How does the L-shaped nose thread avoid poking through the skin, and why does it last longer?

Because I designed it so that the nasal tip rests on a broad surface, where the thread folds into an L, rather than on the sharp end of a thread.
The effect of older nose threads differed between the bridge and the tip. On the bridge, the thread fills space and makes the bridge look higher, so it lasts. On the tip, the threads lifted the cartilage and held it up. Results varied with skin thickness and the elasticity of the cartilage, but they usually didn’t last long.
Also, when the tip was stretched or raised a lot and then supported with a straight thread, the sharp end of the thread bore the force of the tip pulling back down. In some cases, this could cause the thread to push through the skin.
LSCO is a thread I designed so that its folded L-shaped part fills the nasal tip. Because it fills the tip as well, the tip can hold its shape longer. And because the force supporting the tip is spread over a broad surface rather than a sharp end, it is designed to lower the chance of the thread pushing through the skin.
