Point 1. One line

We see the waist, buttocks and thighs as one line

We don’t treat the thighs, buttocks and love handles separately. We look at them as one continuous line and decide where to remove fat and where to add it.

Point 2. Remove and fill

The fat we remove fills the buttocks

The suctioned fat is filtered, and only the pure fat is transferred to the hips and buttocks.

Point 3. Within your natural frame

Your frame stays the same; we find good proportions within it

Pelvic width and rib cage shape differ from person to person. Within your current frame, we find the proportions that make the waist look defined.

Medical note

Lower Body LINE ON in detail

From here, we explain how the surgery works, recovery and what to watch for in more detail. It’s written to the standards Dr. Oh uses when he sees patients.

A note from Dr. Oh

If you only treat the thighs, only the thighs improve. What matters is the line that runs from the waist through the buttocks to the thighs.Dr. Oh Hae Seok, Medical Director

This may suit you if…

Your waist and hips form a fairly straight line, your thighs and legs are fuller, or your buttocks are flat. It may also suit you if you train your glutes regularly but would like more volume in certain areas; if you’d like a narrower waist, wider-looking hips and slimmer legs; or if the fit of jeans and leggings matters to you. Many people whose work depends on their figure, such as models and Pilates or yoga instructors, come to us for this procedure.

Hip dips are a normal part of many people’s anatomy. Transferred fat may be less likely to take in this area, and in some cases there isn’t much fat to harvest, so hip dips are sometimes treated with filler instead.

This may not suit you if…

An examination and ultrasound show that there isn’t much fat that can be removed, or you’re hoping for a result beyond what your natural bone structure allows. What we can do is refine the line within the limits of your bone structure.

Procedure, time & anesthesia

The consultation, physical examination and ultrasound take about 10–15 minutes.

The surgery is done under IV sedation. Liposuction of the thighs, buttocks and love handles takes 2–3 hours, and fat transfer to the hips, love handles and buttocks (or filler for hip dips) takes about another hour.

Pain, recovery & returning to daily activities

Most people feel very little pain in the buttocks. The areas treated with liposuction may ache, like sore muscles, for 1–2 weeks.

You can return to daily activities the next day, but please avoid alcohol and smoking for at least a month. Transferred fat is sensitive to pressure, so for at least a month, please also avoid anything that presses on your hip dips and buttocks, such as tight clothing, sleeping on your back or sitting for long periods.

Results, how long they last & repeat treatment

Right after surgery, the treated areas look much larger because of swelling and the amount of fat added. Most of the swelling goes down in the first 2 weeks. Over the next 2 weeks, fat that didn’t take is absorbed and the volume gradually decreases. Over the first month, the volume decreases by about 30–40%. At 3 months, about 50% of the transferred fat usually remains.

If you’d like a second procedure, we recommend waiting at least 3–6 months.

A common misconception

A common misconception is that what’s added will slide down. Transferred fat doesn’t slide down.

Filler placed in the right spot in an appropriate amount is also unlikely to move. If too much is added, though, it can shift.
