FAQ
Can I tell in advance whether my skin will sag after liposuction?
Dr. Oh’s answer
To some extent, yes, at an examination. We look at how quickly your skin springs back after a pinch, stretch marks, your age and how much fat is to be removed. If sagging seems likely, we’ll discuss adding Renuvion.
Liposuction removes fat, but it doesn’t shrink the skin over it. Skin with good elasticity shrinks on its own to fit the new shape. But if a lot of fat is removed at once or the skin has lost elasticity, the skin may not shrink back enough and can look saggy.
At your examination, we check the following:
· Whether your skin springs back right away when pinched and released
· Whether you have stretch marks, and whether your weight has gone up and down many times
· How much fat is to be removed
If your skin is firm and not much fat is being removed, liposuction alone is enough. We don’t add Renuvion to every liposuction.
